THE BIG DRINK: (24) La Perla @ Harry Denton's Starlight Room

Harry Denton's Starlight Room is located on the 21st floor of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. It's a curious place - if, say, you want to get hit on by an awkward socially conservative Indian guy from Ohio visiting San Francisco for the first time for a tech conference, you, my friend, are in luck. Or, if you want to get eye daggered by lady cougars for being a young fun twentysomething, you, my friend, are in luck again! Or, if you want to get pressured into forming a conga line by middle aged men/women clearing going through mid-life crises, you, my friend, are in LUCK. Why do I go to the Starlight Lounge? To dominate the dance floor while jamming to Top 40 hits overlooking Union Square, that's why. Starlight, for the win. It's a hilarious scene. Their La Perla drink consists of tequila, sherry, and pear liqueur - which to me, perfectly incapsulates the place. A little tequila to get the party started, a little sherry for some sophistication, topped off with pear liqueur to add some class. It's $14, so it ain't cheap. But a night out at the Starlight is absolutely priceless. P.S. On Sundays they have two shows of "Sunday's A Drag" Brunch @ 12 noon & 2 p.m. - who wants to attend a drag show?!?!?
